Eco-Friendly
When we started running parties we quickly became horrified at the amount of rubbish and waste that was being produced - often enough to fill 2 very large black sacks - and all of which would head straight for the dustbin and then the landfill. Paper and plastic tablecloths, plates, cups, cutlery, napkins, straws, foil food platters, food waste, food packaging, latex balloons, wrapping paper all went in our sacks - with the party bags and novelties which would later be discarded by the guests at home and the invitations sent out on top.
We have therefore set about finding ways to reduce this waste and try to do our little bit to help our planet without taking away the traditional atmosphere of a childrens party.
With a brand new UK supplier of ethical and environmentally friendly products we are now able to offer you a fantastic range of items including party bags, toys, tableware, fabric bunting and invitations.
Party Bags
We like to use recycled paper bags (which can also be recycled when finished with) and also fabric drawstring bags filled with good quality toys and goodies which will be useful and enjoyed by party guests. There are lots of very affordable traditional wooden toys which are very popular, but old favourites like pencils and notebooks are still a good option. By carefully choosing items which are durable and will last it is teaching children that we do not have to live in a throw away society where we think nothing of filling up the dustbin.
We also find that other parents are relived to find that they are not collecting their child with another plastic based bag of rubbish from a party!

Pass the Parcel
Although using recycled newspapers is an obvious choice, we do like to make our parcels a little more special and so opt for colourful tissue paper which is
then put into the paper recycling bin.
We do however now have a paperless version of the traditional game, whereby children pass around a series of colourfully decorated
boxes stacked one inside another - when the music stops the child opens the outside box and finds a small prize inside before they pass the next box on. This provides an updated twist to the game whilst producing no waste.
The Pass the Parcel Box Game is priced at either
1. £15 for 10 layers with a small prize between each layer and a quality prize in the centre box and £0.75 per extra layer.
2. £10 for 10 layers with a wrapped chocolate between each layer and a quality prize in the centre box and £0.50 per extra layer.
Please note that the Pass the Parcel Box Game can only be purchased for parties where White Rabbit Parties staff are present or when other party equipment is hired.
Art and Crafts
We all know that children enjoy junk modelling, and so we have devised a range of crafts which used recycled or sustainably sourced materials but which are still fun and end in a good final creation that children will be proud to take home. Invitations

Fabric Bunting
From just £9.95, our range of cotton bunting is perfect for any party or event as well as permanant decoration in children's bedrooms, playrooms and nurseries. Available in red, pink, blue or a mix of pastel coloured gingham; pirate fabrics, bright multicolours or happy birthday designs there is even the choice to have custom made bespoke bunting in a colour scheme and fabric choice to suit your individual requirements.

Tableware
Whilst we always reuse the plastic tablecloths used on a food table as art cloths at another party., we are aware that we still throw away a large amount of soiled paper and plastic tableware. To try and combat this, and as we know it is not always practical to wash and dry 25 sets of reusable crockery, we are now offering a range of party tableware which is made from biodegradable starch or bagasse (the waste fibre from pressing sugar cane) which will break down in only 6 months opposed to the 500 years plastic can take!
Whilst these products may not be as colourful and exciting as their usual counterparts, (they generally come in natural shades or white) we feel that an effective balance can be created by, for example, using plain white starch plates and cups together with printed themed napkins. Even more fascinating are plates made from woven sialli leaves handmade in India. Children are fascinated when told what their plates are made out of - and as they are compostable we have even had a child ask to take them home to put on their own compost heap!

Finally, a note about balloons.....
Balloons
Balloons are not the polluting and environment damaging product that many people think they are. We have found this little description about how latex balloons are made:
Latex balloons are produced from the sap of the rubber tree. It is collected without harming the tree by using an environmentally safe, old age process similar to that used for collecting the sap from maple trees for syrup. Because of rubber's versatility and demand, these tropical rain forest trees are very valuable, highly coverted - and well protected natural resources. These precious trees play an equally valuable ecological role in the earths fragile ecological balance by removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere which helps prevent global warming.
A latex balloon is made from 100% organic material and its 100% biodegradable. Stress caused from inflation starts this decomposition cycle. Exposure to sunlight accelerates this process and soon the balloon will break apart. Research has shown that under similar conditions latex decomposes as quickly as an oak leaf (source: balloonhq.com)
Therefore - using latex balloons is not a environmental concern. We do also use some foil balloons for decoration which do not biodegrade, but these balloons can be refilled with helium gas and reused, and are never released into the air in the way that latex balloons sometimes are.
